It's a beautiful day And the sun's shining brightly You can hear the birds chirping To the beat of my song This song is a song That is sung so delightly When you sing this song Nothing could go wrong It's the kind of song that makes you Up and at it To feelin bright and jolly all day When there is some trouble Or someone you're mad at Remember this song and you'll say Hey! It's a beautiful day And the sun's shining brightly You can hear the birds chirping To the beat of my song This song is a song That is sung so delightly When you sing this song Nothing could go wrong Nothing could go wrong... Doo-ahh.

There's a star There's a light There's a wonderful night There's a day That you pray And you tell all the feelings you say... I can hear the echo of your voice I can hear the sound of the things of your choice I can hear the words you said to me so true I can hear you There's a star Up above That makes me feel warm with your love You're like no one I've ever met And you're someone I'll never forget I can hear the echo of your voice I can hear the sound of the things of your choice I can hear the words you said to me so true I can hear you

How can the world come together Should it be ruled by a king Happiness and love All come from above If we put our hands together and we sing The world may be filled with bad times Still we have our good times too As hard as it seems Try to live up to your dreams Then the sun will blow the clouds away And it'll be shining through Maybe I can't tell the world what's right and wrong Even though it'd help everything Still I can sing my little song All you have to do is Sing Why are we all so unfaithful What's wrong with peace and liberty Maybe if we try Our lives won't pass us by I think that's the way that we all want it to be Why don't we follow good guy's footsteps Why don't we learn to live life right Don't just close your doors Go on out and stop the wars Why is it that everyone always has to fight? Maybe I can't tell the world what's right and wrong Even though it'd help everything Still I can sing my little song All you have to do is Sing How can the world come together Should it be ruled by a king Happiness and love All come from above If we put our hands together and we sing

Some say I'm too young to change the world Maybe it's true But someday you'll be gone and I'll take your place And our whole future is locked up in a child's dream I may be too young to change the world But I think us children should be heard I am the future and I won't let you down I am tomorrow - keep the smile, lose the frown I am a child and I have a dream That we can live in peace and harmony I have a child's dream The children are our future - let's let their dreams come true Don't let them throw their dreams away And some children are too young to know if their dreams are worth listening to So listen to what their hearts say Cause they will be the world someday We are the ones who'll be the world We'll be leaders like you someday We cross our fingers and we wish on stars And if I had a wish I'd wish for this I'd wish for a child's dream I am the future and I won't let you down I am tomorrow - keep the smile, lose the frown I am a child and I have a dream That we can live in peace and harmony I have a child's dream We are the ones who'll make a change You've got to teach us what's right We pick clovers and we dream at night So we can see the light Please give us might Cause it'll all start out with a child's dream I am the future and I won't let you down I am tomorrow

about

Month 3 of 12, releasing an album a month. I'm tired, not gonna lie <3 But here's another release for you. This one is a collection of songs written in elementary school mostly, except for the two at the end - when I held onto my childlike optimism long past was cool for middle school (and actually caused me some friend problems, more on that in future albums). But this 1st-7th grade period, at least musically, was a time of great joy and strange wisdom for me. These songs never left me. Partly because I made sheet music, at my music teacher's request (and with the help of my piano teacher - thanks Ethel Stetka and Carla Smith, you two were life-shaping!) Partly because I made bands with friends and cousins and all we ever did when hanging out was sing these songs, and make up dance party shows for family and neighborhood friends. Thanks Alyssa Lowry, Julie Ruetz and Heather McCarthy for being rock solid collaborators and letting me lead and do my thing all those years - I have barely known how to be in a band since then cuz I'm such a bossy leader with too many ideas. But your harmonies and joy and fun spirits made it some of my favorite times in childhood. And thanks Stephanie and Steve for encouraging me and loving me and filming me and dancing along. And thanks mom and dad for making me feel super special (probably too special - made me less inclined to edit, maybe added to my love of sharing everything? thinking every creative impulse was gold?) Anyway, I love you all. And I love those from childhood who supported me but are not mentioned here. And to all the haters, I forgive you. Some of you scarred me deeper than anything that's ever happened since...but a therapist taught me once to see the bullies and mean girls in my memory as actual kids, like 6th and 7th graders, and even look around at kids of that age now, and see that in real life those people probably grew up and stopped acting awful (let's hope)(and if not, well that's their own punishment) and do I really want to give my creative power away to middle schoolers? Anyway, thanks for all the music. Here's my weirdo gift to you, enjoy!

p.s. most of the original recordings of these songs exist on tape, some still on the original Tascam tapes that need to be bounced to regular tape...but I'm afraid to use them with my current tape set up, so for this challenge I just rerecorded them from memory (or from sheet music). Even ordered my original Casio MT-67 from EBay so I could have the exact childhood experience. xo <3

Songs written & performed by Jessica Fogle
